Jack Munro Triumphs at the 2025 Southport EC. Pohl & Co Pro-Am
On Friday, 8 August 2025, Southport Golf Club proudly hosted the 2025 Southport EC. Pohl & Co Pro-Am, a highlight of our golfing calendar that once again delivered an exciting day of competition, camaraderie, and community.
The tournament featured dual shotgun starts at 6:45 am and 12:00 pm, with players enjoying a full day of golf, premium catering, and refreshments. Each field concluded with presentations hosted by PGA Professional Garrett Skinner.
A major spectacle was the Professional Shootout, proudly sponsored by Thiele Partners Accountants. From the clubhouse balcony, members and guests were treated to a thrilling contest as professionals aimed for the 18th green from the 1st tee, chasing the Shootout Champion title.
Queensland’s Jack Munro claimed the title with a flawless, bogey-free 6-under-par 65. His round included an eagle and four birdies, sealing a commanding two-shot victory.
In second place, Steven Jeffress (QLD) and Cam John (VIC) both finished at 4-under-par, while a strong group of competitors including Cory Crawford shared fourth place at 3-under-par.
Munro’s round was highlighted by a brilliant eagle on the par-5 1st, followed by back-to-back birdies on holes 7 and 8, securing the momentum that carried him to victory.
Munro now turns his focus to the 2025/26 Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia season, beginning with the PNG Open in Port Moresby and the NT PGA Championship in Palmerston. Building on his Southport win, he’ll be striving to climb higher than last season’s 36th place finish on the Order of Merit.
