Drug and Alcohol Policy

Southport Golf Club management are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for members, staff and visitors. To achieve this management will identify, assess and control the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol.

Drug and alcohol consumption negatively impacts on a person’s concentration, physical coordination, reaction times and mental alertness. This reduction in a person’s ability to perform normally can have tragic consequences. Prior consumption of drugs and alcohol can still impair performance many hours later, even into the next day.

It is a policy of the Southport Golf Club that staff, contactors, and volunteers must not be in possession of, consume nor be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while at work. Staff found breaching this policy will be counselled and disciplinary action taken by their manager.

Management of the Southport Golf Club will not tolerate poor behaviour of its members or guests who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol as this puts at risk the safety of all present. Management will ensure all staff serving alcohol will have done Responsible Serving of Alcohol Training (RSA). Members or guests displaying poor or abusive social behaviour at the Club will be required to leave by the Duty Manager and if necessary, with the assistance of the police.
